Patrício Pitbull celebrates fighting on the same card as his former rival: "My son"

At UFC 314, Patrício Pitbull will fight for the first time in the world's leading MMA organization, facing Yair Rodríguez. A moment that, in itself, will be historic for the Brazilian, but which will also yield another very special touch for the fighter from Rio Grande do Norte.
Coincidentally, an old acquaintance of the Brazilian will also fight on the card, scheduled for April 12 in Miami. Michael Chandler will be one of the main stars of this event, facing Paddy Pimblett, and has a history with his now Ultimate teammate since their Bellator days.
In May 2019, the two fighters faced each other while they were still employed by Bellator. The Brazilian defeated the American and became the lightweight champion of that organization, in a way 'returning' the two victories of 'Iron' over his brother Patricky in the past, when both also represented that promotion. Later, Chandler ended up moving to the UFC.
And how does Patrício Pitbull feel about being in the same arena as his 'client', facing different rivals in their respective fights? In an interview with the MMAFighting website, the Brazilian took the opportunity to make fun of such a situation, mentioning the fact that he had already beaten him once.
- This is the first time that father and son fight on the same day - joked Patrício.
And, if both win, would there be room for a rematch in the Ultimate? Despite avoiding committing to such a thing, the Rio Grande do Norte native recalled his rivalry with the American to state that, regardless of everything, he respects his former rival.
- I will always have the desire to beat Michael. I respect him, of course. We are athletes and we have respect. After I beat him, I congratulated him. But this desire of mine to fight him will continue until we are old - he said.
